How youth-led mental health solutions make a difference | World Economic Forum

May 13-19 2025 marks Mental Health Awareness Week in the UK, and this year’s theme is one that speaks to our shared human experience: Community. As we navigate a world full of uncertainty, digital overwhelm and increasing isolation, this year’s theme reminds us that healing and hope often begin not alone, but together.

At the Mental Health and Wellbeing Show, we believe in the transformative power of community. Whether it’s a local support group, a workplace initiative, or a grassroots movement, the importance of community cannot be overstated when it comes to mental health and wellbeing.

Wales is known for its close-knit communities, where people look out for one another. Yet even here, many face loneliness and mental health struggles.

Social isolation is one of the greatest threats to mental health. Research shows that people who feel connected to their community are healthier, happier, and more resilient. Now is the time to celebrate the support systems that lift us up, while also acknowledging the gaps that still need to be filled.

How You Can Get Involved

Reach Out Locally

Whether it’s a quick catch-up with a neighbour, or reconnecting with an old friend, small acts of connection can make a big difference. Reach out to someone who might be feeling isolated.

Create Safe Spaces for Conversation

Let’s normalise talking about mental health. Whether in the workplace, school, or at home, we can all listen without judgment and create environments where it’s okay to not be okay

Find Community at the Mental Health and Wellbeing Show

Many visitors and exhibitors return year after year, drawn by the sense of belonging they find here. The Show offers the chance to meet like minded people, hear from mental health professionals, and discover inspiring initiatives across Wales and beyond. It’s a space where everyone is welcome, valued, and inspired to take their next step towards wellbeing.

Support or Start Community Initiatives

Wales has a rich tradition of community-led projects that have a real impact on mental health.. Join a local mental health group, take part in a wellness event, or start your own support network. Whether it’s through local charities, peer support groups, or social clubs, you can help create a space where people feel supported.

Host a Community Coffee Morning or Tea Break

A simple cup of coffee can change a life. By creating a relaxed space for conversation and kindness, we remind people they are not alone. At the Mental Health and Wellbeing Show, we believe that every conversation counts and your coffee morning could be the start of something extraordinary.

Mental Health First Aid Training

Imagine a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training empowers ordinary people to be that vital first point of care. Our official show sponsor, Ajuda Training Services, offers expert MHFA courses to help you take that first step towards saving lives and building resilience.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, let’s be intentional about strengthening the communities around us. Let’s celebrate the everyday heroes who create spaces of support and belonging. Let’s reach out to those who feel alone. And let’s remember that, together, we are stronger.

Join us at the Mental Health and Wellbeing Show, and be part of a community that cares.
