Summary

This seminar, led by Chloe Farnham, Head of Crisis Intervention and Involvement Services at Adferiad, explores the development and impact of Adferiad’s Sanctuary Model.  Established as a pilot in 2020 and funded by Swansea Bay University Health Board, the service transformed crisis mental health support through an open-access, same-day, self-referral approach.  The session will highlight how the model adapted to an open access, one-at-a-time approach, ensuring timely, person-centred out-of-hours support and further sanctuary models across Wales.

Chloe Farnham provides strategic and operational leadership across Adferiad’s crisis and lived experience services for adults and children and young people. She leads high-quality, non-clinical, community-based mental health services offering alternatives to emergency departments, with a strong focus on service quality, safeguarding, partnership working, and inclusive, accessible support for communities across Wales.
