Seminar Summary:

This year, Samaritans Cymru are launching a new inclusive parental mental health project which aims to reduce suicide risk for anyone on the parenthood journey. New parents and those experiencing baby loss are at increased risk of poor mental health and suicide. This seminar will outline the project and present new ways of affecting change in this overlooked area.

About the Speaker

Emma’s background is in media and communications, and she began her career in adult and community learning, with a strong focus on inequalities in access to education. For the past eight years, Emma has worked for Samaritans Cymru and now manages their policy and communications work in Wales. She has a passion for exploring the social determinants of poor mental health and suicide risk and increasing awareness of the inequalities that affect it. She has also publicly shared her own personal experiences of mental health, grief, and suicidal thoughts, which she believes is really important for reducing stigma.
